How and where are lessons done?

You can take lessons online through rockoutloud live, skype, google meet or discord by clicking the booking link, paying for the session and using the calendar option on the site. A  link will also be in the confirmation email. Make sure to put your session in a personal calendar so you don't forget.

What levels of singer does Mel teach?

Mel teaches all levels of singer, whether that be beginner looking to learn necessary fundementals or advanced singer looking to polish and add more performative levels to their voice.

What styles and genres does Mel teach?

Mel teaches primarily contemporary styles such as pop, R&B, rock, folk, indie, alternative, theater and jazz. She also teaches the foundations of distortions found in metal and hard rock, like growls, screams, rasp and more.

Can I record my lesson?

Students are encouraged to record every lesson with the  built in capabilites, or via screen recording apps. For services that don't have a built in record function, students can request that Mel record the lesson and send it to them after the lesson via a google drive link. Please don't share recordings publicly without permission.

How and where do I pay for lessons?

You can pay for lessons using the website booking link or by submitting through Mel's PayPal or Cashapp.

Payment for any lesson must be made at least 8 hours in advance or discussed directlly with Mel to secure a slot.

Does Mel have bundle deals and other services outside of regular lessons?

Mel offers a 4 lesson bundle option that discounts the total of 4 lessons by 25 USD. She also has options for her voice exercise composition course that teaches singers and voice teachers how to hand craft vocal exercises themselves, for their practices and for their own lessons with students. How long are lessons and what is covered?

Lessons are 45 minutes in length. They are student tailored, meaning that the student can tell Mel what it is they want to achieve. If they have no pre planned notions, Mel typically will take them through a half and half scenario of registers and technique and then repertoire that the student requests or aligns with technique in the lesson.

What is necessary for my lesson?

The student really only needs a laptop, stable internet connection, webcam, and some willingness to try new things and be bold. If the student does not have a laptop or desktop with camera, a cellular device, tablet or iPad  will do.

Can Mel teach multiple people in a lesson?

Mel can teach more than one singer per lesson, the max being three. Each student is responsible for their part of the lesson fee.

What is the best practice regimen for in between lessons?

Every singer has unique goals and schedules, so this may vary from student to student. Mel recommends for singers who are taking improvement seriously, at least 20-60 minutes of practice 4-6 days a week. The student can and should use any exercise Mel has assigned them, stretch the top of the voice, and work the strong bottom of the vocie, and appy these techniques to the song. What ages does Mel teach?

Mel teaches ages 6 to age 99+. You're never too old to take voice lessons and Mel has experience teaching children in multiple theater productions and childcare centers.
